Archangel Michael

Paint of Archangel Michael

This blog post is about the second of our Archangels, Michael who along with Gabriel who we also wrote a recent blog post about are two of the Archangels. Archangels are the highest ranking angels and feature in many religions including Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The name Michael means “Who is Like God” which some believe not to be a taken literally but instead to be a rhetorical question meaning; no one is like god, and that Michael represents a symbol of humility before god. Archangel Gabriel

Painting of Archangel GabrielIf you have been following our blog post series on Angels, you will have seen us take you on a guided tour through the different types and classifications of Angels across the entire spectrum of spiritual beings. Now, we are going to take a look at some of the individual Angels within those “categories” to give you more of an insight into their characteristics and key traits;

The Angel we are looking at today is one that we are sure you will no doubt be familiar with, by name at least, yes, we are talking about Archangel Gabriel, or Angel Gabriel as he is perhaps more commonly referred to.

Archangel Gabriel is possibly the most well-known of all Angels, which is unsurprising given that alongside Archangel Michael, he is one of the only two Angels whom are mentioned by name in the Bible. Gabriel was the angel whom appeared to the Virgin Mary to foretell the birth of Jesus in the gospel of Luke. Most people know the story of an Angel appearing to Mary, however not everyone knows that it was Gabriel. He also appeared to Zechariah to foretell the birth of John the Baptist, but his first mention in the Bible is in the Old Testament, where he appears to the prophet Daniel, to explain the visions he has experienced. Cherubim Angels

Painting of Cherubim AngelsCherubim angels are one of the highest ranking angels and are said to be the guardians of the throne of God. Unlike most angels that have a more human like appearance, the Cherubim’s are claimed to have four faces, four wings (some say up to eight wings) and feet similar to that of a calve. Their head includes the face of a man, the face of a lion, the face of an ox and the face of an eagle (but please don’t be put off or frightened by this, after all, they do carry the same characteristics of other angels and what’s bad about that?). The Cherubim name means “ones who hold fast” and in Hebrew as “fullness of knowledge”. Not only do the Cherubim angels guard the throne of God, but the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life.

It is mentioned in the Book of Genesis, that the Cherubim angels forced Adam and Eve out of Eden, and guard the gates to Paradise, the Tree of Life with a flaming sword flashing back and forth. As mentioned, the Cherubim’s are one of the highest ranking of the angels and are in fact positioned second. They were created with inexpressible beauty and powers. This particular group of angels are even more significant, as they were the first ones to be mentioned in the Old Testament and are also the guardians of the stars. The total number of Cherubim angels is unknown, but they are believed to sit around the throne of God…hence why they are probably the most important angels for guardianship (Dictionary of Angels, Gustav Davidson). They pretty much guard everything to known to man! (more…)

Dreaming a Fantasy or Reality?

What did you dream about last night? Can’t remember? Or was it that vivid that you’re still reliving it? Either way, whether you remember it or not,Woman Sleeping we all dream, even if you believe that you don’t. Did you know that your dreams, no matter how ridiculous you think they are or how normal they seem, they all have a hidden meaning and are a message to you, the dreamer. Did you also know that an average person spends at least one third of their life dreaming? Here’s another fact for you, after 10 minutes of waking up, we forget what we dreamt about. So, what exactly is a dream?

Dreams are created from day-to-day or lifetime events and hold a significant purpose to you.  Sigmund Freud referred to them as “manifestations of our deepest desires and anxieties, often relating to repressed childhood memories or obsessions”.  In other words, dreams are our unconscious reflecting on personal emotions and according to Carl Jung, they are messages to the dreamer. There are different types of dreams, some we have heard of, such as nightmares and daydreams. There are also those that we haven’t heard of but may have experienced them. Here are few of the different types of dreams. (more…)

Guardian Angels

Last month, we talked about Archangels, who are the highest ranking angel, but share similar characteristics with a Guardian Angel. We’ve all hadStatue of Angel this said to us at some point, “someone’s looking out for you” when something has happened or when something should have happened, but like most people, it would have been ignored. But, have you ever thought for a few seconds about what that means and what if there really is someone out there looking out for you?

To some, the story behind guardian angels is nothing but a myth, but to others, it is believed to be true. From the day we were born, we were assigned to a guardian angel, who would be there to protect and guide us throughout our life. A lot of people believe that it is a lost loved one who becomes our guardian angel and is looking over us, but this isn’t the case. We’re not saying they’re not protecting you because they are, but each and every one of us has a unique, personal angel that has been with us since day one, whom God selected. Your guardian angel knows everything there is to know about you and when we say everything, that’s exactly what we mean…everything! They know everything you have said, done and thought from the day you were born. We’ve all said or done some things that we are not proud off, but your guardian angel will never judge you and as long as you have faith or belief in them, they’ll be by your side.   (more…)

Spirit Guides

Angel in the SkyWhen we first hear the word ‘spirit’ (in a non-alcoholic context), what’s the first thing that springs to mind? A ghost? An energy? Well, you’re not far off if you do think this, but putting aside all those horror movies and ghost stories that say all spirits arebad, there’s a lot more to them that meet the eye. We’re sure that after reading this, you’ll have a different opinion of them.

Spirits guides are similar to angels, in the way that they act as a protector and a messenger from God. Spirits are trapped between two worlds, the real world that we live in and their world, the non-real world. This is how the stories start, that because they are trapped between worlds, they think we are interrupting and invading their space. But, have you ever wondered why you and the spirit have been brought together? Or had that ‘gut feeling’ about something? Even experienced a coincidence that is too strange to be true? Well, this could be your spirit guide sending you a signal. In Bruce Goldberg’s book on ‘Spirit Guides Contact Through Hypnosis’, he delves further in and discusses how there are two main levels of the guides. On one end of the scale, they have access to our Akashic Records, which is a type of chart of all our past, present and future lifetimes. Whereas, at the higher end of the scale, the spirit guides are filled with pure energy after having completed their karmic cycles, the ‘belief of light’. This is basically their appearance and manner in which they communicate with us telepathically. Not all spiritsappear in a human-like form, they can also be animals and shapes. So, how do you connect with the spirit guides if you can’t see them? Well, that’s where we come into the equation. (more…)

Angels – Archangels

Statue of an AngelWe all recognise angels as being human-like, with white feathery wings that we place on top of a Christmas tree, but there is a lot more to them than just that. They are in fact messengers of God and each and every one of us has our own personal angel. The angels are not here to judge you or interfere with your life, but to offer guidance and support when needed. Whether the person is good or bad, to the angel, we are all equal.

The word angel originates from the Greek word aggelos, meaning messenger. In the book Archangels and Earthangels, by Schneider and Gerhard, they say that angels are here to help and have powers beyond belief. Not everyone is aware of the different types of angels that have been created, other than Gabriel, who alongside Archangel Michael, are the only two that are mentioned in the Bible. We all believe in having our own Guardian Angel, which is true, we do have our very own who is by our side, but what about the other angels? There are nine categories of angels that we are aware of, who all have a different purpose. These are; Archangels; Cherubim; Seraphim; Dominions; Guardian Angels; Principalities; Thrones; Virtues; and Power.

This month, we will be talking about Archangels. (more…)
